Untouchable

Some people say, "Now that all of your family is dead ,there's no one left for you to love."
But I say, "Now that all who I love is dead, there's no one left to be used against me."
And so I live alone, with my heart locked in a unreachable safe.  I barely eat or sleep.  I'm half dead, but I must stay alive, I must stay alive for her.  If I die, I will not succeed and I will have failed.   Yet living is dreadful.  What to do, live or be free from the prison of my beating heart?

The Dispute

“Would you shut up?!”  Angelina cried.
“You’re the one that started it.” Bethany shot back.
“Girls!  Quiet down!” Their mother scolded, peering through the door.  The girls glared at her until she shut it again.
            “I can’t believe you!”
“Me?! You’re blaming this on me?!  It was your idea.”  Their father burst through the door.
“IF YOU DON’T SHUT YOUR TRAPS YOU’LL BE BUNKING OUTSIDE WITH THE DOGS!”  He barked furiously.
They shot each other accusing looks and continued their argument in hushed voices.
            “How is it my fault?”
“I can’t believe you!”  Bethany cried, throwing her hands up in exasperation.  “You seriously don’t know?”
            “No.”
“You’re the one that said hey, she wouldn’t mind if we went into her house and collected the money she owed us.”  Bethany looked at Angelina expectantly- but she still didn’t get it.
“Yeah, its Tammi we’re talking about, she wouldn’t care if we just walked in her house.”
“She wouldn’t mind if we walked in, but the door was locked!  We broke through her window and technically stole her money.  That’s breaking and entering and thievery.  We committed a federal offense!”  Her voice had continually gotten louder and by the time she had finished, she was an inch away from Angelina’s face and she was practically screaming at the top of her lungs.
Once again their father barged through the door.  “That’s it!”  He grabbed Bethany by her hair, dragged her out of the house, and left her in the yard.  Angelina smirked at her from the window.  Easily set off, Bethany ran to the garden and chose a stone.  She was the best pitcher in the state.  Drawing her arm back, Bethany returned the smirk and let the stone loose.  Angelina realized what was happening just as the stone broke through the window.  “BETHANY!”  She had forgotten about her father.
“Fudge” she muttered.  Luckily, she also held three track records.  She was at the end of the street before her father was even out the door.

The Forsaken Feud

Lia And Mommy died long ago
So there's only one living family member that I know
And he's gone away
All I can do is hope he can come back some day
Then he'll rescue me out of the prison of loss
And the curse shall be broken
After  the words are spoken-
"Your soul is gone, yet you never had one
The same with your humanity and now your curse is gone and done"
All will be freed, though no  lives returned,
The monster destroyed, its ashes burned.
The deceased all buried with the same quote on their tombstones, Words, carefully spoken
Hope, helplessly lost, Heart, completely broken.

Mockingjay Analysis

In Mockingjay, a teenage girl is overcome with emotions of love, pain, and spite while trying to adapt to a completely different environment.  Mockingjay is written in Katniss, the teenage girl’s, point of view.  With Katniss telling the story, everything seems to be a do or die situation.
After being in the hunger games twice, Katniss sees everything as life and death.  In district 8, it was sit there and hide while people die, or try to shoot down the Capital’s hoverplanes against orders.  Again, in the Capitol, it was be a good girl and head back to camp, or try to get to President Snow’ s mansion so she can finally get her revenge.
Suzanne Collins made this book deeply emotional by choosing Katniss to tell the story. This was an excellent decision because readers get into the book more if they are able to feel the same emotions as the character.  Also, if she choose Peeta to tell the story, it would be told from and insane point of view that would not make any sense.  Although, Katniss is slightly insane herself.

Wishing on a Star

Wishing on a star, up so high
Wishin', wishin', with a sigh
A wish for somethin' that will change my life
Somethin' that doesn't include that knife
It was such a bloody and horrific scene
I took it so hard, for I was just a teen
Mommy and daddy, dead that night
With gashes and slashes oozing blood that glinted in the light
The officer held me as I screamed
All the while, the blood still gleamed
I just couldn't look away from the puddle that was growing
Nor could I look away from my parents, all their insides showing
It was like a horror movie, only so much worse
Why couldn't I just have died with them and ended this curse
I'm just lying here and wonderin' why
Why, why, why, did I not die

Starlight Brawl

The wind caressed her face and pulled her into the night
She drifted through the woods until she came across the fight
Man vs. beast
It was going to be a bloodbath to say the least
From her place behind the bushes, she was transfixed
The beast looked as if a bear, a wolf, and a rhinoceros were mixed
The man was tall and broad with a bulky outline
Every now and then a knife or a mouth full of teeth would shine
The fight seemed never-ending, although both were tiring
All the while she still sat there admiring
Wishing she could fight like that
The man was now winning and the beast knew it, he took to the sky and flew off like a bat
Her jaw dropped in surprise
And the man fell to the ground and could not rise.
She would have helped, but she was not even supposed to be here
So she ran to the house and slipped back in the mirror

Shooting Star

Did you see that streak in the sky?
That shooting light, oh my oh my
That flash of brilliance, oh so bright
I've never stargazed, but tonight I just might
Asteroids, planets, and no gravity
It's so sweet I may have a cavity
And then there's the moon, a majestic sight
So round, so blinding, that orb of light
Look, there's another one, a shooting star
I just want to grab it, but it's much too far
"Come inside now" my mother chimes
Yeah, like that's going to happen, I'll be out here for a long time
